almost there

Pete has been keeping in touch through messages sent from another team members blackberry. I have heard from him at each stop and they are now on their way from Nirobi to Migori by van. They made it safely to Nirobi and with all luggage in hand, a huge blessing.

off they went

I just returned home from taking Pete to the airport. He is on his way to Kenya for what i'm sure will be an exciting adventure. And another adventure is his new blog. He started it to share about his trip, so check it out@ www.loibner.wordpress.com.

They seemed anxious to be on their way, even at 5:30 in the morning.

Caprese

Today when I was about to eat my lunch I decided to take a few pics before digging in. Other than people, food is my favorite thing to photograph.

And did I mention my love for tomatoes? A caprese salad is the best on a summer day, especially with a perfect Arkansas tomato and basil from the yard.

Campbell's special day

I was a little worried that after we did Wilson's special day it might be a little while before we got to Campbell's day, but I had forgotten my husbands sensitivity to the "often forgotten youngest child." No worries because this child does not let himself be forgotten.

We took Campbell to the new pedestrian bridge. It connects NLR to LR and is actually an old train bridge.

We parked in NLR and walked over to the new playground on the other side of the bridge.

It is an amazing playground!!! It has views of the river and instead of a classic playground it is one slide and a series of tunnels, ladders, and climbing rocks. It even has a really neat fountain-ish thing for the kids to play in- bring your swimsuit.

Campbell is a very good climber.

After exploring all the tunnels, we made our way to Boulevard for a cookie to go.

We had cheese dip for lunch (Campbell's fav) and ended our special time with a little Father/son nap.

We feel so blessed to have 2 such wonderful little guys.

the 4th @ GrandJules

When we left Hot Springs we went straight to Julie's house for a yummy dinner. She had made a big cookie that the boys got to decorate as an American flag.

And since I love fireworks, I had picked up some sparklers that we all did after dinner.

Grandmother was the most graceful holding her sparkler.

Only minor injuries, mostly because Campbell enjoyed running with fire.

We had an awesome day! Now I must go get my children out of time out- I am paying the price today for an exciting day yesterday. Maybe we will all get a nap.

the 4th @ the lake

Yesterday morning the James and I headed to Hot Springs for a little 4th of July fun. We played hard and ate lots- my favorite things on the 4th.

All the kids had so much fun in the pool. The James children are like little fish, Lucy thought she could swim without any help-so cute.

Campbell is wearing both a life jacket and a floaty, but he gets where he wants to go so he is happy.

Wilson has just started swimming w/o help and he was doing a great job. Nathan even taught him how to dive, hard to believe he is such a big boy.

Eli is a wild man!! He has no fear and was pretty much trying everything Wilson did ( he is 2 and Wilson is 5.) It was very impressive.

Argenta

I spent Saturday morning wondering the streets of Argenta. After being rained out of taking some portraits I decided to take full advantage of my babysitter and spend a little time alone with my camera.

I love the old buildings downtown and the light of a rainy summer morning.

It did clear up a bit, but the farmers market was happening rain or shine.

Oh, a bonus! While walking around I found this sign saying a Starving Artist Cafe is coming to NLR in August- very exciting!!! It is a yummy place, there is one in LR, but I forget to go there.
