BAM

Today was the wonderful day that we picked up our Basket a Month(BAM). It is a happy day and today was especially happy because all four of us got to take a trip to the river market to pick it up. We even got breakfast and Wilson helped me carry our empty basket from last month to exchange for an extra cheese, a great deal. Well i knew you had been waiting anxiously to find out what might be in it, particularly because it is a little late in the month- so here it is:

quart of blueberries

quart of blackberries

quart of strawberries

pound of sweet potatoes

zucchini squash

yellow squash

sugar snap peas

spring mix lettuce

cucumber

multi-colored carrots

2 cups of basil

8 grain bread from boulevard bread

sushi grade rice

12 eggs

1 pound of cheese, 1/2 which is for returning the basket

We will be enjoying some yummy yums around here and as the sign at the river market says it is not to late for you to enjoy too!

whitney vs house

I have felt it coming since we returned from our little vacation. I made every attempt to push it to the back of my mind, but the thoughts finally took over today. I had to clean my house. Don't get me wrong it was not super messy, I had put away our clothes and done laundry, but it was dirty. The semi hidden kind of dirty that you really only notice when out of town guest are coming, well this is unless you are a clean person. I am not a messy person, my house is usually picked up, I don't make piles and I even sweep my floors- especially around food areas- fairly often, but I am not a good deep cleaner. I said it and I must admit there is a bit of freedom in that. But today I did it. I would love to say it was because I was motivated by something great or because I deep clean every Wednesday, but these things would be a lie. I simply was over taken by the yuckiness. And even at that I made great attempts to put it off. I had my niece spend the night-so I had to play instead of cleaning, I had craft time this morning-I have to entertain the children, I left the house- can't clean if you can't see it, then when it seemed I couldn't do anything else, I went to Target. I did actually need some cleaning supplies so I choose the method products. They are very cute and smell good and are better for the enviornment. In fact when you read the bottle they almost have you believing you could bathe in the tub and tile cleaner, which by the time I was done with my bathroom I felt like I had practically done. I know that by now you either think I am very whiny or a little crazy, both might be a little true, but mostly I just needed to vent. And maybe this will help you, cause it really wasn't that bad. I suggest a fun trip to Target for a few fun products, some new rubber gloves and a good cd.
Things I would rather do than deep clean...
1. Be outside
2. Have a pedicure
3. Sudoku
4. Take a nap
5. Read a magazine
Pretty much this list could go on and on also including things I don't really like but enjoy more than this.

Memorial Weekend in Hot Springs

After a great trip to Dallas we had to head back towards home, but not without a weekend stop in Hot Springs. We thought for only a day or two, but my parents just couldn't get rid of us. I love the lake in the summer and it was lots of fun with lots of friends.

We spent a lot of time in the pool, took a few boat rides, ate lots, and even got to see fireworks from a great spot. In the end it was a great little vacation and left us all needing a nap.

The Davidsons in Dallas

Over the past three months we have tried to figure out how we could make it to Chicago to visit the Davidsons and thier newest addition. It has not worked out. So when we found out they would be in Dallas for Memorial weekend we decided to crash the party, and a party it was. Complete with swimming, ice cream parties and treasure hunts. The bigger kids had a great time playing together and we all loved meeting Phin.

Before and After

So today I got hair extensions. It was something I had considered in the past, but was pretty sure I couldn't fork over the money for. This was an opportunity I couldn't pass up to be a hair model while some people learned how to do extensions. It took about 4 hours and is now a bit uncomfortable, but an over all fun experience. "So weird," Peter and I keep saying. It is especially weird because the last time my hair was much past my shoulders I was 9 years old. Any way I just wanted to share my fun day and my new hair.

Congratulations Kurt!

We loaded up yesterday and headed up to Fayetteville. It had been to long and our friend Kurt was having a little party to celebrate graduating from Law School. So weird because it seems to me like he just decided to go back to school, but I guess that is because it was when we were leaving Fayetteville. Any how it was a very fun, yet quick visit. We got to catch up with old friends and the kids got to play hard.

They played hide and seek, and ran around, and they might have even shared with each other. It does look a little like Grant is using the bathroom on the wall, which might have happened earlier in the weekend, but he is actually counting. Don't worry Kurt and Georgia, not at your house.

This last picture is truly a miracle because I took about 25 and this is the only one where all the boys are looking in the general direction of the camera and the majority are even smiling.

Thanks Everybody for a fun visit. A big thanks to Leah for giving us a date night.

A great day

We spent most of Mothers Day in Hot Springs with my mom who was also celebrating her birthday. It was a great day, my mom and I even got out for a few minutes while the boys rested. We also got in the hot tub-which is my favorite thing and before putting on their pajamas the little guys did some fishing on the back porch. Who knew a bucket of water could be so fun? I think they played with it for at least an hour. I love watching my boys have fun together and it was the perfect way to spend mother's day. Thanks guys!

Mothers Day Out

It has been a crazy week around here and I think tonight is the first this week that we all four sat at our dinner table together. I didn't cook and it was almost 7 when it happened, but it did happen. I love the dinner table and the catching up that happens there. So the highlight was when Wilson asked me if tomorrow was Mothers Day Out. A reasonable question because he does go to mothers day out, but I could tell that when I told him "no, tomorrow we go to church not MDO" he was confused. It took me a minute, but I realized he was asking if it was mothers day. I love the funny things my kids say. I didn't correct him so if he wishes you a happy mothers day out now you know.

And to all you amazing mothers happy mothers day out!
