homemade ice cream

We spent Memorial Day weekend at my parents house in Hot Springs. It was the perfect place to sit and enjoy the very rainy holiday. But even the rain couldn't stop us from digging through the storage room to find the ice cream maker. It wasn't warm outside and it was rainy, but that ice cream was GOOD! We use a recipe that was my grandmothers and it is so easy- no cooking and no raw eggs.

We are having some people over tonight and in an effort to keep them cool I am making it again today.

May BAM (basket of the month)

This morning we picked up our yummy May basket of the month. It is always exciting to pick up, but getting better and better as we get into summer and the pick-up has officially moved to the Argenta Farmers Market.

Not only did I enjoy the things in the basket, but also the other goodies the market has to offer ( I have eaten breakfast there the past 3 Saturdays).

As motivation to clean out my refrigerator, I thought I would show you how much happier my fridge looks when filled with basket loot.

In the basket...
cabbage
lettuce
spring mix
bok choy
milk
chocolate milk
shittake mushrooms
cheese
strawberries
dozen eggs
basil pasta
planted herb
strawberry vinaigrette
butter

Enjoy your Memorial Day!
Any good food plans?

dentist

Yesterday after school the boys both had dentist appointments. I love our dentist office! For the kids they have a room with a tv on the ceiling and my favorite part is that it has two chairs. The boys go in at the same time and lay on these chairs while they take turns getting their teeth cleaned. It makes it so much easier to take them at the same time and I think they feel safer together. It is hysterical to see how excited they get about going to the dentist.

I have never thought to take my camera on their past appointments and this time had it by chance. It was in my car and due to many recent stories of break ins I am afraid to leave anything in there.
The boys did a great job and we celebrated with treats that will send us back to the dentist.

art genius

We love coloring and crafting here at the Loibner house and lately the boys have really been on a roll. They are quickly filling their designated notebooks with family members, superheroes, and animals of all kinds. Campbell's people all the sudden look like people and Wilson has passed me in drawing ability. This week, in a combined effort, they made this amazing tiger. I am going to try to keep it forever even though it was constructed out of notebook paper.

I feel like a slacker for not doing a mother's day post....I am very blessed to have a great mama and lots of great moms that I do life with and who encourage and lift me up. I had a great mother's day and hope you all did also.
And a BIG thanks to my kiddos...you make being a mommy fun!

Kris Allen

I can't deny that I am a big time American Idol fan. We started watching in season 3 and have been pretty faithful ever since. We always pick a favorite and even vote now and then, but this season we have turned into full time voters in support of Arkansas's own Kris Allen. And today we went out to support him in person on his hometown visit.

I understand that this picture looks like I am hiding in the bushes, but that was not exactly it. We parked on the north side of the river and walked over to the amphitheater, but on the way we saw the American Idol limo and ran down to the AR Queen where Kris was doing a photo shoot. Not the greatest shot, but we are really close and it was fun to see him getting out of the car with his entourage.

When we made it across the river this was our spot.

It was super fun to be a part of. Crazy to think about how this guy's life has changed and imagining what it would be like to come back to a venue where you have seen concerts and be the concert- can't imagine.

Happy Kris Allen Day!

funny talk

This afternoon I have had some work to catch up on. Luckily the boys came home ready to play and have been entertaining themselves in the art room. I am hear to answer questions and encourage masterpieces, but for the most part they are doing their own thing. When we have an afternoon like this I try to at least listen in to make sure they stay civil. Sometimes this leaves me exhausted- the way 4 and 6 year old boys talk can do that and other times I am entertained.
Campbell just said something that I wanted to make sure and not forget.
Very seriously to Wilson he said, "Are you sinking (thinking) what I'm sinking (thinking)?"
Not sure what he was thinking, but it made me laugh.

experiment

Doing a little experiment. I read a few days ago about how to increase the size of photos on your blog and so I am giving it a try. These are a few more pick from our trips to Holland Bottoms. I will be adding a whole set of these to my website in the next few days.

...come again another day

A few weeks ago, on a day that looked a lot like today, the boys and I headed out for some play time in the puddles.

I love the color everything is on a rainy day and I was determined to get outside with my camera. I thought the boys would be into it because puddles are so hard to resist for little boys. It did take them a minute to warm up to the idea, but they got into it and I think they would like to be doing it again today, if the lightning would stop.

coming out of the fog

The Loibner house has been in quite a state this week. In the past 6 days we have all 4 seen a doctor, been put on multiple medications and are just beginning to resurface. The sickness all began just after the eventful birthday sleepover and ever since then I have been waiting to share these very fun pics of all the kids. The task of cropping, let alone editing, a picture seemed far to daunting..truly looking at the computer screen was enough to require a 30 minute nap. So as one of my accomplishments for the day I am putting up these pictures of all the kiddos swimming. I love that they are all stair steps (photographer's dream).

Please don't miss that Reese completely disappeared when it came to the group jump and that Simon just stays right there in the same spot, that was his spot.
