Attack of the Fumungus!

Yesterday afternoon we took advantage of the slightly cooler temperatures by spending some time outside. We walked to pick Wilson up from school and then let the boys play in the front yard. They are very good at exploring. The most interesting thing they discovered yesterday was a spot where the heavy rain had left a little fungus on the mulch. Wilson was very inquisitive and after we told him it was a fungus they spent the rest of the time running from the fumungus.

"Come on Campbell, we've got to get away from the fumungus!"

Birthday Girl Time

My birthday was last week, as were Alison and Julie's, and in an attempt to make it last as long as possible I stretched the celebration out over 4 days. I got to do some shopping, hang out with some good friends and eat some great food. This is a picture from the Hillcrest "shop n sip." It is oh so much fun, if you have not been I would say it is a must. All the stores in Hillcrest stay open late the first Thursday of the month and have food and drink, then we went out to eat.

Sorry to those of you whose faces are hidden, especially Sarabeth whose head is blocked by my very large head.

Let the games begin

Wilson had his first soccer practice this week. He is on a team with Dylan and 4 other little boys and as you can see from his face in the 4th pic he is taking it very seriously. At least when he isn't asking the coach if he can take a break for water, who can blame him- he got a new water bottle and everything.

A few of my favorite things

Part 1.....

I really like to shop, a thing that was passed on to me by my mother. And even more I love to find a deal, so I decided I would start sharing some of my favorite finds with you. It's kind of like Oprah's favorite thing except millions of people hear about those and there are 2 of you, but anyway I hope you enjoy.


My favorite new baby thing is this California Baby Bubble Bath found by Alison at Target. It actually has a bubble wand in the bottle and makes for fun times in the bath. In addition it is organic and smells super good. This might be a spoiler if you have had a baby recently because I stocked up for gifts.

The DMV

This morning I took a last minute trip to the DMV, my tags expire today and my drivers license next week. I do realize the tags could have been taken care of online, by phone, or by mail if only I would take the needed steps ahead of time. I am pretty sure that every year of my married life, which is also every year of my adult life, I have forgotten to assess at the proper time ( which is apparently Jan 1- may ?). I always realize my tags are about to expire and something inside of me thinks "isn't there something else I have to do first?", but it is August so I do it but not in time to take the easy road.
I'm sure this says a lot about my personality. No matter how much I love or long to be organized it does not really come natural to me. I doesn't matter that HGTV sends me organization e-mails or that a book on the subject peaks my interest, not even that the Container store is one of my favorite places. It just isn't me.
Why do I not know these unknowns? Am I just spoiled to a world with lots of reminders? How do you organize the things in life you can't even remember exist? I wish somewhere in my education (K- college) I would have had a class on these things, like commonly overlooked things101. I am pretty sure it would have served me better than Geology or even Chemistry, after all I was a Fashion merchandising major and obviously not really interested in science. Chances are something like this existed and I just some how missed that too. So just in case you are like me here is a friendly reminder to assess, the number is in the phone book. And even if you have already done it for this year go ahead and put it on the calandar for January, I did.

Back to MDO

New school year, new teachers, new nap mat.... it was a very exciting morning around the Loibner house as we prepared for the first day back to MDO. Plus a morning off for both Peter and I. It was so fun that we got to drop off and pick up the boys together. Plus they had a good day and we are looking forward to a good year. Hard to believe Wilson will be starting Kindergarten in a year.
